Proposed By: Amiya Ingram

Purpose:

To enhance educational outcomes and workforce readiness in King County by leveraging AI-driven research to identify high-benefit career fields, integrating AI into education planning, and implementing a rotational career exploration program for high school students that strengthens local business partnerships and supports economic growth.

1. University-Led Research on Career Fields and Education Needs

  • King County will commission leading universities and research institutions to conduct comprehensive studies identifying:

    • The career fields with the highest projected growth, economic benefit, and community impact.

    • Key skills and competencies students should acquire to succeed in these fields.

  • Research findings will inform curriculum development, resource allocation, and workforce planning.

  • Results will be made publicly available to guide educators, students, and policymakers.

2. AI Integration into Education Planning

  • Develop AI-driven outlines and frameworks to:

    • Tailor educational content and career guidance based on individual student interests, strengths, and labor market trends.

    • Provide predictive analytics to schools and districts to adapt programs responsively.

  • Establish clear guidelines and ethical standards for implementing AI tools in education, ensuring data privacy, equity, and transparency.

  • Each student will spend defined periods exploring different career areas through:

    • Classroom instruction

    • Hands-on projects

    • Job shadowing and internships

  • This program aims to help students discover their interests and aptitudes, informing their choice of college majors or vocational paths.

4. Partnerships with Local Business Community

  • Establish and expand partnerships with local businesses and industry leaders to create a feeder program that:

    • Provides internships, apprenticeships, mentorships, and employment pipelines for students.

    • Encourages businesses to participate in curriculum advisory boards to align education with real-world skills.

  • Promote retention of young talent within King County by showcasing career opportunities and supporting entrepreneurship.

  • Collaborate on funding and resource sharing to sustain and grow the program.

5. Expected Outcomes

  • Data-driven identification of key educational priorities aligned with economic growth.

  • Increased student engagement and informed career decision-making.

  • Stronger local economy through talent retention and workforce development.

  • Ethical and effective use of AI technologies in education.
